Elon Musk's AI: Grok and the Story Behind It
Elon Musk started a company called xAI and built an AI called Grok. The latest version is called Grok 4 and it lives inside X, which used to be called Twitter. What makes Grok different from ChatGPT or Claude is that it can see live posts and news on X in real time. So if something just happened in the last hour, Grok will know about it. It is also known for being a bit more casual and direct compared to other AI tools. Musk was also one of the people who started OpenAI back in 2015, which is the company that makes ChatGPT. He helped fund it early on but left the board in 2018 because he disagreed with where the company was heading. Since then he has been very critical of OpenAI and even took them to court in 2024. With Grok he is trying to build what he calls an AI that always tells the truth and does not hold back. In 2026 Grok is seen as a real competitor but most independent tests still put Claude and ChatGPT ahead of it for most tasks.
